Commercial Construction Carpentry Apprentice – Sunshine Coast
AKAM Constructions is delivering residential and commercial projects across South East Queensland, with project values ranging from $5 million to $35 million.
As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a motivated Carpentry Apprentice to join our Sunshine Coast team. This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in the commercial construction industry.
This is not a traditional carpentry apprenticeship focused on day-to-day carpentry tasks. Instead, you'll complete your apprenticeship while gaining valuable exposure to the broader commercial construction industry. Working alongside experienced Site Managers and construction professionals, you'll learn project coordination, site supervision, quality control, subcontractor management, safety, programming, and how commercial projects are delivered from start to finish.
This role is suited to someone who wants to build a future in commercial construction and develop the skills required to progress into roles such as a Leading Hand or Site Manager.
What you'll be involved in
- Assisting with the delivery of commercial construction projects from start to finish
- Supporting Site Managers with day-to-day site coordination and organisation
- Carrying out general labouring duties including site preparation, moving materials, assisting trades, and maintaining clean and protected work areas
- Working alongside supervisors, subcontractors, and trades to understand commercial construction processes
- Gaining exposure to the practical and supervisory aspects of commercial building projects
- Developing the skills and knowledge required for future career progression
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in the construction industry and wants to build a long-term career
- Is interested in developing skills beyond traditional carpentry and working towards future supervisory roles
- Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Holds a White Card, Drivers Licence, and First Aid/CPR (or obtained in probation)
