About the Role

As a Cadet / Trainee Estimator & Designer, you'll work alongside experienced estimators, designers and project managers, learning every aspect of estimating and fire system design.

This is a structured development role where you'll receive mentoring, practical experience and ongoing training while working on real commercial projects from tender through to completion.

You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of fire protection systems including:

- Fire sprinkler systems
- Fire hydrant systems
- Fire hose reel systems




- Fire detection and alarm systems
- Emergency warning and intercommunication systems (EWIS)

No previous fire industry experience is required. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, strong attention to detail and a genuine desire to build a long-term career.

Your Responsibilities

Working with our estimating and project teams, your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with preparing quotations, tenders and detailed cost estimates.
- Reviewing architectural, hydraulic, mechanical and fire services drawings.
- Completing quantity take-offs and material take-offs.
- Assisting with the preparation of compliant fire system designs.
- Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Learning Australian Standards, NCC requirements and industry regulations.
- Preparing project documentation and submissions.
- Maintaining estimating databases and quotation registers.
- Assisting project managers with procurement and project administration.
- Attending site inspections and project meetings.
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and clients.
- Developing technical knowledge across all major fire protection disciplines.
- Participating in ongoing internal and external training.

About You

You’ll be someone who enjoys solving problems, learning new skills and working in a professional team environment.

Ideally you’ll have:

- A qualification, or currently studying, in Construction Management, Building, Engineering, Drafting,



Project Management or a related discipline (preferred but not essential).
- Alternatively, a willingness to undertake further study while developing your career.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Competent Microsoft Office skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Current Australian Driver Licence (preferred).

Experience using Bluebeam, AutoCAD or estimating software is advantageous but certainly not essential.
