About Us

Kurbingui Youth and Family Development (‘Kurbingui’ or the ‘organisation’) is a registered Not-For-Profit (NFP) Aboriginal community-controlled organisation and a company “Limited by Guarantee” operating throughout the Greater Brisbane, Southeast and Moreton Bay regions. Kurbingui programs are funded by government and non-government grants as well as self-managed revenue services and activities. The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors elected and appointed from members of the community.

Kurbingui delivers a range of programs and services aimed at improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the broader communities. These programs and services contribute to the cultural, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a strong focus on addressing isolation, domestic and family violence, social emotional wellbeing, poverty, discrimination, family issues and unemployment through the provision of case management, therapeutic support, outreach, community development, education, training, cultural workshops and traditional activities and community events.

Kurbingui partners with the three levels of government, not-for-profit organisations, corporate companies, Elders, and community members. Our staff members undertake their duties as a collaborative team working to the organisation’s policies, procedures, relevant legislation, and best professional practice standards. Our teams are flexible, multi-skilled and work effectively and sensitively with a diverse range of individuals, multi-disciplinary groups, partners, and stakeholders to ensure high quality and culturally protected services to all community members.

About the Role

The Youth and Family Practitioner – Multi-Program provides high-quality, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based services across Kurbingui's diverse range of programs and services in Zillmere, Caboolture and Deception Bay. The role delivers responsive, flexible case management, outreach, advocacy, therapeutic support, group facilitation, and community engagement activities in accordance with each program's objectives, service agreement, and funding requirements.

The position is designed to provide responsive workforce support across the organisation, maintaining continuity of service delivery during periods of leave, workforce vacancies, increased service demand, new program implementation, or other operational requirements.



The Practitioner is expected to work effectively across multiple program areas while maintaining high standards of professionalism, cultural safety, quality, and client outcomes.

The Practitioner rapidly adapts to differing program models, service agreements, operational procedures, documentation requirements, and funding obligations. The role ensures all work is undertaken in accordance with organisational policies and procedures, relevant legislation, funding agreements, Child Safe Standards, the Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF), ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, and other applicable accreditation and compliance requirements.

The role works collaboratively with Program Managers, Team Leaders, practitioners, and external stakeholders to support integrated service delivery across Kurbingui. The Practitioner actively contributes to continuous improvement, quality assurance and the sharing of knowledge and best practice to strengthen organisational capability and ensure positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families, and communities.

About You

Essential

- Demonstrated experience providing case management, outreach, advocacy and practical support to children, young people, adults, and families experiencing complex social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.

- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, adapt and work effectively across multiple programs, client cohorts and service delivery environments while maintaining high-quality, culturally safe practice.

- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities, and culturally safe practice, with the ability to build respectful and effective relationships.

- Experience applying trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centred practice frameworks.

- Ability to assess client needs, develop and review case plans and coordinate appropriate supports and referrals.

- Well-developed communication, engagement, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, Elders, community members, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

- Demonstrated organisational, time management and administrative skills, including accurate case recording, report writing, and database management.

- Ability to work independently,



manage competing priorities and adapt quickly to changing operational requirements.

- Demonstrated knowledge of professional boundaries, confidentiality, safeguarding, risk management, and ethical practice.

- Commitment to continuous learning, reflective practice and contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.

- Qualifications and/or demonstrated professional experience in community services, youth work, social work, psychology, counselling, family support, child protection, community development, or another relevant human services discipline.

- Current Drivers Licence (QLD)

- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe.

- Possession of a current Positive Notice Blue Card

- Possession of or the ability to obtain a Disability Worker Screening Card.

Desirable

- Experience working within Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) or culturally led community services.

- Experience delivering services across a range of community, family support, youth, domestic and family violence, wellbeing, or related programs.

- Knowledge of Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF), ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, Child Safe Standards, and continuous improvement processes.

- Experience working within funded community service programs and meeting contractual reporting requirements.

- Experience facilitating groups, workshops, community engagement activities, or cultural programs.

- Experience using electronic client management systems and Microsoft 365 applications.

- Understanding of Queensland community services legislation and relevant government service systems.
