Centennial is a leading Australian property investment and development business with a strong presence in industrial, logistics, retail and Large Format Retail (LFR) sectors. Entering a key growth phase Centennial is seeking to appoint a Senior Development Manager to join their national Development team based out of the Brisbane office. This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a close-knit team, working on interesting and challenging development projects around the country.
This is a crucial current role in the business and as Senior Development Manager (SDM), you will drive the delivery of multiple complex projects across planning, design, approvals, and construction phases. The Senior Development Manager will manage industrial, large format retail, and logistics precinct developments, with a focus on civil-structural project outcomes encompassing challenges that might include; rehabilitation, ground improvement, contamination, and linking infrastructure.
You will collaborate closely with internal teams including Capital Transactions, Funds Management, and Asset Management, as well as lead external consultant teams (planners, architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and legal advisors) and main contractors. Your technical understanding of land use and planning, value-engineering and the complexities of infrastructure delivery, applied with proven commercial acumen will unlock value upside throughout the project lifecycles.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving outcomes across program, quality, and commercial performance.
- Reviewing project feasibilities and development strategies informed by market and industry data.
- Engaging with the market to negotiate AFL's and preleasing requirements.
- Managing procurement strategies, tender processes, contractor appointments, and stakeholder engagement.
- Value-engineering and problem-solving site complexities including key project infrastructure.
- Overseeing construction delivery, project governance, and reporting.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to add value across development projects.
The ideal candidate will bring around 15 years of industry experience, with a strong background in civil-structural engineering or prior construction disciplines preferred, along with the proven ability to manage development outcomes with a hands-on approach and the enjoyment of getting into the detail that makes projects successful. Applying a commercial mindset to the broader strategic development goals through persistence and patience, stakeholder engagement excellence, and sound contractual knowledge is essential.
