Senior Mining Engineer – Surface Mining

Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

We are currently seeking a Senior Mining Engineer – Surface Mining to join our Mining team. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality mining studies and projects across a range of surface (open pit) operations within the mining and energy infrastructure sectors. This is an opportunity to contribute your technical expertise and strategic thinking across the full project lifecycle, while working within a global, multidisciplinary engineering environment. You will work closely with clients and internal teams to develop practical, value-driven mining solutions. As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will lead and support mining studies (FEL 1–3), providing expertise across open pit mining projects. You will contribute to technical delivery, client engagement, and business growth, while mentoring junior engineers and driving innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and contribute to concept, prefeasibility and feasibility (FEL 1–3) studies for surface mining projects
- Provide technical expertise in open pit mine design, planning and optimisation
- Identify and assess key value drivers including cost, productivity and revenue optimisation
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their operational needs and identifying opportunities
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions
- Champion safety, innovation and continuous improvement across projects

Mentor and support junior team members to build capability within the team

About You





You will be a degree-qualified Mining Engineer with strong experience across surface (open pit) mining environments. You bring a solid understanding of mining studies and project delivery, along with the ability to think strategically and solve complex problems. You are confident working across multidisciplinary teams, with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Experience in mine planning software (e.g. Deswik or similar), along with exposure to project studies and capital projects, will be highly regarded. You are commercially aware, self‑driven and thrive in a collaborative setting, with a strong focus on delivering safe, practical and value‑driven outcomes.
