You will join the team as a Backend Support Engineer and are given the chance to really take ownership, drive and influence. This role is open to candidates in Sydney (only) or open to relocating to Sydney who is open to working 2-3 days per week in the office

- Work from office in Sydney CBD, 2-3 days per week in the office (hybrid working)
- No overseas candidates, open to sponsoring local candidates with the right experience
- Salary: $120,000-$150,000 base + super maximum + bonuses

About the Role

We’re looking for a Backend Support Engineer to join our team and help us maintain the performance, reliability, and quality of our core products. You’ll play a key role in identifying and resolving backend issues, supporting our customer service team with technical queries, and helping build long-term solutions to minimize future incidents.

This is a hands-on technical role where your problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset will have a direct impact on both our customers and internal teams. You’ll be part of a supportive and innovative engineering environment with plenty of room for personal and professional development.

Your Responsibilities:-

- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve backend issues in production and staging environments
- Partner with customer support to diagnose and resolve user-reported bugs
- Continuously improve existing backend systems to enhance speed, reliability, and scalability
- Analyze recurring issues and develop long-term fixes to prevent repeat occurrences
- Monitor logs, system health, and performance indicators to proactively detect problems




- Document common issues, fixes, and backend workflows for internal use
- Collaborate with developers to ensure smooth delivery of new features and updates
- Effectively manage your own work, communicate progress, and support your team
- Go (Golang) microservices with gRPC
- GraphQL APIs
- Datadog for monitoring and observability
- React Native and React for front-end interfaces

What We’re Looking For:-

While experience with our specific tools is ideal, we know great engineers can adapt quickly. If you're a skilled backend support engineer (developer) with a passion for problem-solving, we’d love to hear from you.

Our ideal candidate will have:-

- 3+ years of experience in backend development or in a support-focused engineering role
- Familiarity with some of the technologies in our stack (or similar)
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools
- DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience is a bonus
- Strong analytical and debugging skills
- Ability to take initiative, manage time well, and work independently
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
