The Role
A hands-on Financial Accountant who will play a key role in supporting the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all financial activities. This role is responsible for preparing and posting journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver clear, reliable financial reporting that supports informed decision-making.
In addition to core accounting responsibilities, this position requires the flexibility to assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities when required, helping to maintain smooth day-to-day financial operations. This is a versatile opportunity for someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating across both strategic and operational finance tasks. What You Bring (Essential Experience)
- 3 – 5+ years’ local accounting experience.
- Strong grounding in month end processes and general ledger accounting.
- Exposure to Australian compliance (GST, Income Tax, Payroll Tax, FBT, BAS lodgments).
- Experience with Xero Software
- Comfortable stepping into other finance department tasks when needed eg. Accounts Payable/Receivable. Team player.
- Strong communicator — able to ask the right questions, clarify uncertainties early, and communicate progress and issues clearly.
- Reliable and able to work independently — confident making progress and solving problems autonomously. Able to use time efficiently and manage workload to deadlines.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to group reporting requirements for an overseas publicly listed parent, including strict close calendars and intercompany processes
- Experience with AP automation tools, and project/time systems (strong advantage).
- Experience in small to midsize organisations or professional services viewed positively
- Solutions focused mentality — proactively identifies issues, proposes practical fixes, and looks for ways to continuously improve processes
