About the role
MuriHealth Respiratory & Sleep Specialist Centre is seeking an experienced Sleep and CPAP Scientist/Technician to provide daytime CPAP services and undertake overnight sleep studies when required.
Key Responsibilities
CPAP/APAP/BiPAP setup, mask fitting and patient education
Review treatment adherence, efficacy, pressure requirements and device data
Troubleshoot mask leakage, residual events and therapy intolerance
Perform CPAP and bilevel titration studies
Set up, monitor and troubleshoot attended overnight sleep studies
Maintain accurate documentation, equipment and infection-control standards
Requirements
Relevant health or sleep-science qualification
Experience in CPAP management and overnight sleep studies
Competence in electrode application, signal monitoring and troubleshooting
Strong communication, documentation and patient-care skills
Ability to work independently during overnight shifts
Australian working rights
Experience with Compumedics equipment and software is highly regarded.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive sleep assessments and patient consultations to identify sleep disorders and underlying causes
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans utilising cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) and other therapeutic interventions
- Provide patient education on sleep hygiene, relaxation techniques and behavioural modifications
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with clinical standards and regulations
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including doctors and allied health practitioners, to ensure coordinated care
- Participate in case discussions and clinical meetings to contribute to ongoing professional development
- Support the delivery of group therapy sessions and sleep education programmes as required
What we're looking for
- Recognised qualification in Sleep Therapy or Sleep Medicine (or equivalent qualified qualification in a related allied health discipline with additional sleep therapy training)
- Current registration with the relevant professional body, if applicable within your jurisdiction
- Demonstrated experience in assessing and treating sleep disorders in a clinical setting
- Strong knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy techniques and other evidence-based sleep interventions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to patients in an accessible manner
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in clinical documentation
- Empathy, patience and a genuine commitment to patient-centred care
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Desirable: Experience in a private practice, clinic or hospital setting; additional qualifications in psychology, counselling or psychotherapy
