Location and Award
Department of Health Tasmania – Launceston General Hospital, LGH Charles Street, Launceston, North region.
Position: Registered Nurse, Grade 3-4 under the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Salary: $80,524 – $109,175 pro rata per annum, with superannuation and allowances as listed below.
Team Environment
The Emergency Department team at LGH consists of emergency physicians, nurses, paramedics and support staff, working in a high‑pressure, life‑saving setting that values advanced medical protocols, rapid response, and inter‑departmental collaboration.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide expert, patient‑centred nursing care in a high‑pressure Emergency Department setting.
- Deliver advanced clinical care for critically ill or injured patients, including trauma, cardiac, and paediatric emergencies.
- Safely manage deteriorating patients with prompt interventions.
- Collaborate with the care team for comprehensive critical care management.
- Manage multiple patient presentations simultaneously in a dynamic and unpredictable setting.
Appointment Details
- Full‑time or part‑time, permanent, rotational shift work up to 76 hours per fortnight; hours negotiable to accommodate successful applicant.
- This selection process may also be used to fill future similar vacancies for twelve months from publication.
Salary and Allowances
- Salary range conforms to the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
- Post‑graduate allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.
- Salary packaging includes living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment up to $2,650 FBT year.

Essential Criteria
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience in emergency or critical care settings is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high‑pressure, multidisciplinary environment.
