ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Outreach Programs Manager co-ordinates the successful development and delivery of a range of Museums Victoria outreach programs and services — including outreach presentations, workshops, kits and resources — to bring the best of our museum experiences to people who typically can’t visit our sites because of age or geographic barriers.
Some of the key duties include:
- Co-ordinate the development and successful delivery of outreach programs and resources, ensuring reach and engagement targets (including regional reach targets) are met.
- Manage staff and resources within delegations, and develop and maintain the budget, administrative systems and procedures aligned to the Public Programs and Education department.
- Manage outreach program delivery to kindergarten, primary and secondary school, and general public audiences.
- Initiate and monitor audience evaluation and marketing of outreach programs, using data to support continuous improvement and alignment to Museums Victoria’s brand and quality expectations.
- Provide advice on interpretive strategies,
learning and delivery approaches, and audience needs, and contribute to improvements in program planning, development and implementation.
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated experience in the research, development, promotion and coordination of outreach, public and/or education programs to achieve successful audience and business outcomes.
- High-level interpersonal skills and a proven ability to liaise with key stakeholders — particularly teachers, schools and kindergartens, libraries, community organisations, aged care facilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse organisations.
- A demonstrated understanding of the role of outreach, public programming and community engagement for diverse audiences within a museum or informal learning context.
- The ability to lead and manage diverse teams and delivery staff, and to manage issues that arise in the day-to-day delivery of programs.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating budgets and resources, and using and improving business systems and processes.
