The Opportunity

The Field Education Coordinator will be responsible for the oversight of all work placement aspects of the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) program. The role involves coordination and assessment of work placements, supervision of staff conducting work placements, and the planning and continuous improvement of work placements and assessments. The Field Education Coordinator may also undertake training and assessment activities, requiring necessary planning and preparation to ensure compliance with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) accreditation standards. This position is available for full-time or part-time employment.





- Managing aspects of work placements appropriate to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level, ensuring alignment of learning outcomes with learning activities and assessments.
- Completing timetabling and planning processes for work placements.
- Supervising and mentoring permanent and casual staff on assessing work placements.
- Conducting work-placement training and assessment.
- Attending placement facilities to supervise and assess students during work placements, including a minimum of liaison visits as required by accreditation standards.
- Monitoring and acting on student feedback, participation, academic progress, and attendance.
- Preparing semester work placement reports for the Academic Board, including data on placement outcomes and compliance.
- Managing the collation, moderation, and submission of results, as well as finalisation of grades, extensions, reviews, and instances of academic misconduct.
- Assisting the Academic Lead and other academic staff in activities as assigned, including building industry partnerships for placements.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Attributes

- Minimum Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work).




- Minimum of 5 years industry experience in Social Work
- Relevant experience in coordinating higher education (HE) work placements or in a similar role (desirable)
- Strong background in industry to meet regulatory requirements, including eligibility for membership of AASW.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
