A Melbourne-based courtroom role focused on daily advocacy in the Magistrates' Court, with occasional travel to regional Victoria. The position involves managing high-volume court lists and working toward early case resolutions.

As a Solicitor Advocate, you'll be on the front line of criminal justice, appearing daily in the Magistrates' and Children's Courts. We're seeking a solicitor with demonstrated experience in advocacy and a proactive approach to their work.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

- Appearing in Magistrates' and Children's Court matters, including filing hearings, committal mentions/committal case conferences, bail applications, summary jurisdiction and other miscellaneous applications, and occasionally contested committals and County Court pleas and appeals. You will also receive appropriate training to appear in the County Court DATC and County Koori Court as required.
- Proactively engaging with other solicitors, Crown Prosecutors, defence practitioners, and police to seek early resolution of cases.
- Communicating sensitively with victims and witnesses, ensuring they feel informed and supported throughout the prosecution process.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and leveraging technology to enhance our work practices.

This is a Melbourne-based position, with occasional travel to regional Victoria required.

What We're Looking For:

- A thorough knowledge of criminal law and procedure, including key legislation such as the Crimes Act, Criminal Procedure Act, Evidence Act, and Bail Act.
- Proven ability to appear on behalf of informants and the Director and manage a high volume of court lists.




- Demonstrated skill in settling matters efficiently.
- High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise professionally and respectfully with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to work as an effective team member.
