Brook Recruitment
Melbourne
A leading national law firm , with a significant and expanding footprint across Australia, is offering a rare prospect for an ambitious Personal Assistant to fast-track their career by supporting a highly regarded Partner within the firm’s Energy, Corporate, and M&A; practice . This is a genuine step up for the right candidate, offering a chance to work at the heart of one of the firm’s most active and high-profile practice areas, within a business that is investing heavily in its people and its future.
About the Role
This is far more than a traditional support role. Reporting directly to the Partner, you’ll gain genuine exposure to the kind of work most PAs only read about, including 1:1 access to Board meetings and high-level governance activity, thanks to the Partner’s position as a Board member. You’ll be immersed in the day-to-day of a genuinely significant Energy, Corporate and M&A; practice, learning directly from one of the firm’s most senior and well-regarded Partners.
Beyond the calibre of work, this role offers something harder to find: a Partner who is genuinely invested in your growth. Known for his patience and willingness to mentor, he’s committed to developing the right person, not just delegating to them. This is a firm and a Partner that want to invest in your long-term trajectory, not just fill a seat.
Why This Role Is a Career-Defining Opportunity
- Direct 1:1 exposure to Board meetings , providing invaluable governance experience most PAs don’t gain until much later in their career
- The chance to work closely with, and learn directly from,
a leading Partner in one of the most active areas of legal practice
- A genuinely supportive, down-to-earth Partner who values feedback, mentorship, and building your skills for the long term
- Structured career development check-ins built into your first year, designed around your growth, not just performance
- A foot in the door at a large, expanding national firm with genuine long-term progression opportunities
Key Responsibilities
- Provide full diary, inbox, and correspondence management for the Partner
- Draft, format, and prepare documents, reports, and general day-to-day written materials
- Support Board-related activity, including document preparation and general coordination
- Coordinate meetings, travel, and general administrative needs across a busy and varied workload
- Liaise confidently and professionally with clients, colleagues, and internal stakeholders
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Maintain a high level of discretion and professionalism given exposure to sensitive and confidential matters
About You
- Previous experience as a PA or junior EA , ideally within a legal or professional services environment
- Ambitious and genuinely motivated by growth and exposure, not just day-to-day tasks
- Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing a genuinely busy and demanding workload
- A great sense of humour, you’ll need to be quick on your feet and happy to give (and take) a dad joke or two
- Comfortable in the office 4 days a week
- A genuine team player who takes pride in being switched on and one step ahead
