About Aviso Specialty
Aviso Specialty is building a specialist Risk Intelligence and Consulting practice designed to help clients better understand, quantify, mitigate and recover from risk.
As part of this growth strategy, we are establishing a dedicated Forensic Accounting & Claims Solutions capability to support clients before and after loss events. This practice will focus on business interruption, financial loss quantification, claims preparation, claims advocacy support, insurance programme optimisation and strategic claims consulting.
This role represents a unique chance to build a practice from the ground up, shape service offerings, influence strategy and ultimately lead a national team.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Forensic Accountant with a strong background in insurance-related claims and pre-loss business interruption consulting.
This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious professional from a Big Four consulting firm, forensic accounting practice, loss consulting business or specialist insurance advisory firm who is ready to take the next step in their career.
Initially, this role will be highly hands-on, involving direct client engagement, technical delivery, business development and solution design. Over time, the successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, developing and leading a team as the practice expands nationally.
The successful candidate will combine technical excellence with commercial acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Key ResponsibilitiesClaims & Forensic Accounting
- Lead the preparation and quantification of insurance claims involving:
- Business interruption
- Increased cost of working
- Property damage
- Consequential loss
- Cyber-related business interruption
- Financial loss assessments
- Prepare claim calculations and supporting documentation.
- Analyse financial records,
operational data and accounting information to quantify loss.
- Support claim negotiations alongside insurers, brokers, loss adjusters and legal representatives.
- Provide expert advice throughout the claims lifecycle.
Pre-Loss Business Interruption Consulting
- Conduct Business Interruption Sum Insured reviews.
- Assess adequacy of indemnity periods.
- Evaluate business interruption exposures.
- Develop loss scenario modelling.
- Review risk financing and insurance programme structures.
- Assist clients in improving claim readiness before an event occurs.
- Deliver financial resilience assessments and insurance risk reviews.
Practice Development
- Design and build the Claims Solutions service offering.
- Develop methodologies, templates and intellectual property.
- Establish service delivery standards and quality assurance processes.
- Work closely with brokers and risk consultants to identify opportunities.
- Contribute to proposal development, client presentations and thought leadership initiatives.
Leadership & Team Growth
- Create a strategic roadmap for the practice.
- Identify future recruitment requirements.
- Build and mentor a high-performing forensic accounting team.
- Establish professional development frameworks for future team members.
- Drive a culture of technical excellence and client service.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or related discipline.
- CA, CPA or equivalent qualification.
- 5 to 7 years' experience in forensic accounting.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and assessing insurance-related claims.
- Strong experience undertaking Business Interruption loss calculations.
- Experience conducting pre-loss Business Interruption reviews and exposure analysis.
- Ability to interpret insurance policy wordings and claim coverage principles.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Highly Desirable
- Experience in a Big 4 consulting firm.
- Experience within a specialist forensic accounting or claims consultancy practice.
- Experience working alongside insurers, brokers, loss adjusters and legal advisers.
- Experience providing expert witness support.
- Business development and client relationship management experience.
- Experience building teams, service offerings or consulting practices.
