Job Description – School Psychologist – Coonabarabran High School (0000BC6R)

Remuneration

Package valued up to $182,461 + incentives (where applicable). Base salary ranges from $101,122 - $160,983* plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available dependent on professional experience.
*Note there is no automatic progression to the $160,983 SPAC salary level.

About the Role

Full time: 1.0 FTE. The School Psychologist works at Coonabarabran High School, providing counselling and psychological assessment of students to strengthen learning, wellbeing and outcomes. The role offers opportunities for professional development and impact across the lifespan with both primary and high school aged students.

School psychologists receive individual supervision with the Senior Psychologist Education and participate in group peer supervision as part of a multidisciplinary school counselling team. You will collaborate with school staff, external agencies and parents to support students’ mental health and learning.

Key Accountabilities

- Provide individual and group counselling, including short‑term therapeutic interventions within the constraints of training, experience and supervision.
- Engage with and implement the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
- Work in consultation with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
- Contribute to the social,



emotional and academic development of students and support schools with complex behavioural needs.
- Administer cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments, report results and collaborate to improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with learning and support teams, parents, carers and other agencies to develop appropriate school‑based support.
- Respond as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
- Refer students and/or their families to other agencies to support health and wellbeing outcomes.

Essential Requirements

1. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG Inc. and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.
2. General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
3. Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance – WWCC must be NSW.
4. Current and valid driver’s licence with the ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
5. Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
