About The Role

In this role, you will play a key part in the care and management of the community's trees and green spaces. As an Arborist, you will contribute to the sustainable management of parks, streetscapes, reserves, and recreational areas, helping to ensure these environments remain safe, healthy, and accessible for the community.

Work type: Two Fixed Term Full-time positions until 9 April 2027

Classification: Band 2 Commencing at $68,630 pa plus super (unqualified), Band 3 Commencing at $70,838 pa plus super (qualified) pro rata

Key Responsibilities

- Undertake tree maintenance works in accordance with current industry best practice and standards.
- Assess the condition of Council’s trees to identify structural defects or health issues.
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment including trucks, chippers, elevated work platforms and general Arboricultural equipment in an effective manner, in compliance with Council standards, appropriate laws, OH&S; regulations and Australian Standards.
- Identify and perform minor maintenance on plant such as chainsaw sharpening, cleaning air filters, making recent chains, changing blades on woodchipper etc.
- Complete administrative tasks associated with Arboricultural duties.
- Accurately collect and enter data into tree database.
- Ensure OH&S; requirements are implemented and identify and report any hazards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a Certificate III in Arboriculture or similar, or a genuine passion for trees and tree care. The qualified Arborist will also have the following:

Essential Experience





- Working knowledge of Arboricultural practices with practical experience in tree maintenance and tree removals.
- Demonstrated ability to interact courteously and professionally with ratepayers, stakeholders and community members.
- A current employee Working with Children check (employee).

Desirable Experience

- Knowledge of Energy Safe Line Clearing Regulations and line clearing procedures.
- Ability to assess the health and structure of trees.
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
