Team Leader – Primary Engineering

We are looking for a Team Leader – Primary Engineering to lead and grow our Melbourne‑based team of talented engineers.

Responsibilities

- Lead, mentor and coach the next generation of power engineers, supporting their career development and the delivery of complex projects.
- Foster a positive, connected and collaborative team culture where people feel engaged and motivated.
- Complete concept and detailed designs for High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission and distribution projects using digital design technologies.
- Resolve complex engineering challenges such as site constraints, client requirements, equipment specifications, earthing, cabling and safety standards.
- Build strong relationships with clients, project teams and stakeholders across the business.
- Support work‑winning, resource planning and the ongoing growth, career development and success of the primary engineering team.
- Manage multiple workstreams, adapting to changing deadlines and communicating proactively with stakeholders.





Qualifications

- Experience delivering HV/EHV primary substation designs with solid technical knowledge of substation layouts, equipment selection, HV cable design and Australian/NewZealand design standards.
- Proficiency or exposure to software platforms such as CYMCAP, CDEGs, Autodesk SBS, Inventor, Navisworks, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Strong relationship‑building and collaboration skills across functions and disciplines.
- People‑first approach with a passion for coaching, mentoring and developing others.
- Ability to balance technical delivery, stakeholder engagement and team leadership.
- Previous people‑leadership experience is highly regarded.
