About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and values‑led Aboriginal Intensive Support Practitioner to provide culturally safe, intensive case management to Aboriginal young people involved in the youth justice system. This is a dynamic, people‑centred role where no two days are the same. You will work alongside young people at different stages of their justice journey – including on bail, exiting custody, or subject to Youth Justice Orders – supporting diversion, rehabilitation and reintegration into community.

The role recognises the over‑representation of Aboriginal young people in the justice system and places culture, connection and self‑determination at the centre of practice. You will collaborate closely with families, Elders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and local services to deliver holistic, wrap‑around support that creates real change. You will be part of the Youth Justice team, which provides community‑based supervision and case management for young people appearing before the Children's Court, Children's Koori Court and adult criminal courts.

We are recruiting two full‑time, ongoing positions each based in Dandenong and Frankston. You may also be required to work across the region as part of service delivery.

What You’ll Do

- Deliver culturally safe, strengths‑based intensive case management for Aboriginal young people
- Build trusting relationships with young people, families and community
- Support young people to meet court and order requirements while working toward positive life outcomes
- Coordinate and collaborate with a wide range of services across justice, health, education, housing and community sectors
- Advocate for young people and ensure their voices are heard in planning and decision‑making




- Contribute to a supportive, values‑driven team culture

About You

Note: This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under ‘special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

- Solid knowledge of Victorian Aboriginal communities, cultures and contemporary challenges
- Understanding of the Youth Justice system and relevant legislation
- Experience in case management, assessment and working with young people with complex needs
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
- A full Victorian driver’s licence
- A current employee Working with Children Check

A Bachelor of Social Work or Advanced Diploma in Community Services is highly desirable. Other tertiary qualifications (Advanced Diploma or higher) will be considered where they include relevant case management units and supervised placements.
