Global Medics is seeking a Consultant Physician for upcoming locum opportunities at Whyalla Hospital, South Australia.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a regional hospital setting, managing a diverse range of acute medical presentations across the Emergency Department, wards, and High Dependency Unit (HDU), while enjoying the unique coastal lifestyle of Whyalla.

Position Details

- Role: Consultant Physician
- Location: Whyalla Hospital, SA
- Shift Type: 24-Hour On-Call
- Hours: 08:00 - 08:00 (Ward Rounds followed by On-Call)
- Rate: $2,500 per 24-hour shift
- Pro-rata rates apply where a full 24-hour shift is not worked.

- 30 July 2026 (08:00) to 3 August 2026 (08:00)
- 13 August 2026 (08:00) to 18 August 2026 (08:00)
- 21 August 2026 (08:00) to 24 August 2026 (08:00)

Key Responsibilities

- Manage acutely unwell patients independently across the ED, wards, and HDU.
- Provide care for patients requiring non-invasive ventilation and ventilated patients awaiting transfer to tertiary ICU facilities.
- Lead Code Blue responses.
- Participate in ward rounds and on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

- FRACP
- Experience managing HDU patients, including non-invasive ventilation and intubated/ventilated patients
- Current ALS/ALS2 Certificate
- COVID-19 Vaccinations and Booster




- Evidence of immunisation status (MMR, Hepatitis B, Polio, Influenza, dTp)
- SA Working With Children Check
- A current CV
- Two recent clinical references

Payment Information

Please note that all rates are inclusive of superannuation.

- A 12.5% superannuation deduction will apply where the locum's ABN is registered as a Sole Trader/Individual.
- No superannuation deduction applies where payment is made to a Company or Trust.
- Locums not registered for GST must submit their own invoices.

Eligibility Requirements

- Full working rights in Australia
- Current AHPRA registration
- Relevant Consultant Physician experience
