Role

Welding Inspector

We are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified and motivated Welding Inspectors for upcoming shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance projects across major mining, mineral processing, port, and industrial operations in the Gladstone region. As activity expands, we seek experienced professionals who can support high‑quality project delivery and ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Responsibilities

- Conduct welding inspections on fixed plant, piping, pressure equipment, and structural steel.
- Verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and relevant standards.
- Review weld maps, inspection reports, material traceability records, and quality documentation.




- Monitor fabrication, repair, and maintenance activities throughout project execution.
- Coordinate and witness non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.
- Identify defects, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Liaise with QA/QC personnel, supervisors, contractors, and client representatives.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and project documentation.
- Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives on site.

What We're Looking For

- Previous experience as a Welding Inspector within mining, shutdowns, maintenance, construction, fabrication, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of welding inspection techniques and industry standards.
- Experience inspecting structural, piping, and mechanical maintenance works.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and technical specifications.
- Robust attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Essential Requirements

- Recognised Welding Inspector qualification (CSWIP 3.1, WTIA, AWS CWI, or equivalent).
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Construction White Card.




- Ability to pass pre-employment medicals and drug & alcohol testing.
- Full Australian working rights.

Desirable Experience

- Previous shutdown and turnaround experience.
- Experience within mining, mineral processing, LNG, ports, power generation, or heavy industry.
- NDT qualifications or experience working closely with NDT providers.
- Knowledge of AS/NZS, ISO, and relevant welding codes and standards.
- Mechanical or Boilermaker Trade Qualification.
- Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry certifications.
- Experience with QA/QC management systems and ITPs.
- Local Gladstone or Central Queensland industry experience.
