About The Role

The Engineering Lead, Salesforce at Athena is responsible for providing technical guidance as well as leading a team of Software Engineers. They have excellent architecture and solution design skills and are quick to roll up the sleeves and join the team on delivering high quality code and solutions for data and analytics problems at Athena.

This is a hands‑on leadership position with a moving slider on the engineering and leadership dimension, both should always exist but the precise split will be regularly fine tuned based on the specific needs of the team and the business.

We have a vision to build an AI‑native platform team backed by a well‑oiled AI‑DLC and the Lead should also have strong aspirations to jump onboard and familiarise themselves with this way of working and then evangelise it!

Key Responsibilities

- Ownership and full accountability for the team you lead and the platform domain
- Managing internal priorities
- Facilitating the daily scrum, spring planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings
- Working with product to drive the best tech path forward backed by an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Clarifying goals and actions to achieve them
- Handling performance feedback; Coaching and developing the team
- Architecting and designing software solutions, reviewing and collaborating with other engineers on internal and cross-team technical proposals
- Providing technical guidance and direction to team members




- Building out our core platform in Salesforce
- Building out our API layer using a micro‑services architecture and components on public cloud infrastructure
- Running and operating the infrastructure in production and being responsible for the domain as per first principles.

About You

- You are a skilful engineer with high standards, passion for quality and a handful of years of experience under your belt
- You have demonstrable leadership and management experience
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- You have strong Salesforce experience and Apex experience
- You have experience with micro‑services
- You can troubleshoot issues in production, help determining root causes and proposing the most appropriate solution for the situation
- You can collaborate with software developers, product owners and other IT staff members in order to understand the goals, derive/adapt requirements and implement solutions
- You are comfortable with AI‑DLC and working in an Agile, fast‑paced DevOps setting
- You are a problem‑solver and embrace the can‑do attitude
- You preferably have BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
- You are comfortable leading and managing people and being accountable for them.
