About the opportunity

Lead the development and delivery of compelling communications that showcase the impact of marine science research and strengthen WAMSI's reputation and influence.

Key responsibilities

- Create engaging content across a variety of channels, including feature articles, news stories, digital platforms, publications and multimedia products.
- Work closely with researchers, partners and stakeholders to translate complex scientific information into accessible, audience-focused stories that drive engagement and impact.

Eligibility / Qualifications

- Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, media or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Substantial experience in journalistic writing, storytelling and content development, with the ability to produce engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience interviewing stakeholders and translating complex information into transparent and compelling narratives.
- Proven experience working across digital communications channels, including websites, social media and content management systems, supported by an understanding of audience engagement and analytics.




- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and provide strategic communications advice in a complex stakeholder environment.
