The Role

As the DevOps Lead, you will provide technical leadership and guidance across our Digital & Technology teams, helping to establish and mature DevOps practices that enable efficient, secure, and reliable technology delivery. Working collaboratively with teams and stakeholders, you will drive the adoption of CI/CD capabilities, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives while balancing delivery outcomes with operational excellence, security, compliance, and sustainability.

- Act as the technical authority for TasWater’s DevOps platform, practices and standards, providing direction and assurance across the digital delivery environment.
- Lead the DevOps strategy and roadmap balancing consistency, security, and compliance.




- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to align DevOps initiatives with organisational goals and priorities.
- Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence while ensuring compliance, security, and governance requirements are met.

What we're looking for

We're seeking an experienced DevOps professional who is passionate about enabling high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement across technology delivery. You'll bring robust technical leadership, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to influence and support teams in adopting modern DevOps practices.

- Proven experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or related technical leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation, cloud technologies, infrastructure as code, and modern software delivery practices.
- Demonstrated experience leading DevOps, platform engineering, or release engineering practices in a complex enterprise environment.
- Experience balancing delivery speed with operational reliability, security, compliance, and risk management requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $157,359 - $174,843 per annum (inclusive of superannuation).
