The Northern Territory offers 5 Advanced Trainee positions (3 positions at the Royal Darwin Hospital and 2 positions at the Alice Springs Hospital) in Nephrology for 2025. These positions offer accredited training in all aspects of Nephrology including General Nephrology, Chronic Kidney Disease Management, all forms of Renal Replacement Therapy and post-transplant care of patients after transplant surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
There is an active Renal Outreach and Telemedicine service to remote communities. In addition, there is an prospect for trainees to participate in Interventional Nephrology activities consisting of Renal Biopsies, Tunnelled Central Lines and Vascular Access Management (including fistulograms and fistuloplasties).
The 5 positions will be spread across the Top End and Central Australian campuses and each registrar will have the option of spending time at both campuses. The positions also provide a unique opportunity to practice Nephrology in a remote setting and to work towards improving the many issues associated with Indigenous health.
