Are you a skilled trade leader looking for a meaningful, hands‑on role where your expertise directly supports remote Aboriginal communities?

Bawinanga Homelands Aboriginal Corporation (BHAC) is seeking an experienced, proactive Construction Projects Supervisor to provide practical and technical leadership across our construction, maintenance, and trade services.

Based in Maningrida, this role leads multi‑trade teams delivering vital works across 32 Homelands in West Arnhem Land. This is a true hands‑on leadership position, you won’t just be sitting behind a desk; you will be on the ground inspecting work, mentoring local staff, solving technical challenges, and stepping in whenever needed to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.





Key Responsibilities

- Hands‑on Technical Leadership: Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and guidance across trade functions, including building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration.
- Safety & Quality Management: Lead WHS compliance, ensure safe work practices, enforce high standards of workmanship, and conduct thorough quality assurance and job close‑outs.
- Team & People Management: Direct multi‑trade teams, apprentices, and trade assistants, fostering a supportive, accountable team culture focused on mentoring and local Aboriginal employment pathways.
- Planning, Quoting & Procurement: Prepare and review accurate scopes of work, estimates, and quotes quickly. Coordinate plant, equipment, materials, vehicles, and subcontractor arrangements for remote works.
- Project & Financial Oversight: Track job costing, manage purchase orders, monitor grant expenditures, and ensure proper billing and acquittal evidence using systems like ServiceM8.
- Collaborative Operations: Partner with the internal and external stakeholders and consultants to keep workflows, scheduling, and community outcomes aligned.

About You

- Trade Qualification: Relevant trade background in building, construction, or trade services (Construction or Project Management qualifications are highly regarded).
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record supervising multi‑trade teams, apprentices, and contractors in an operational environment.
- Compliance & Estimating: Strong understanding of WHS, building codes, licensing standards,



scoping, estimating, job costing, and variations.
- Systems Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office and job management platforms (ideally ServiceM8 or similar).
- Licences & Clearances:
- Current valid manual Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
- Ability to obtain a NLC permit

- Cultural Competency: Ability to work respectfully alongside Aboriginal people, respecting local protocols, cultural authority, and traditional ownership.
- Problem Solver: Adaptable and resilient creative thinker in navigating remote operational challenges, such as weather conditions and supply logistics.
- Mentor: A passionate approach to developing local capacity, mentoring trade assistants, and supporting apprentices.
