We have a full time position as an Aquaculture Technician available in Alyangula NT 0885.

SKILLS

You require at least a Diploma in Aquaculture or other related discipline and one year of relevant experience OR at least 3 years of relevant experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Aquaculture technician is responsible for the oversight of the aquatic nursery, ensuring all operations run smoothly. This includes conducting routine tests to monitor water quality and environmental conditions, performing research to improve breeding practices, and overseeing the health and welfare of the aquaculture.

REPORTS TO

You will report to the Aquaculture Manager.

POSITION DUTIES

- Manage aquaculture production operations by overseeing broodstock, larvae and nursery activities, monitoring biological systems, water quality, live feed production, and implementing health and biosecurity protocols to optimise growth, yield and survival.
- Provide technical leadership and operational support by contributing to production planning,



technical decision-making, problem-solving, stocking and harvest scheduling, and continuously improving farming systems and production outcomes.
- Lead and support production teams by working independently, supervising small teams, delivering training, ensuring compliance with production protocols, and promoting safe and efficient husbandry practices.
- Undertake day-to-day aquaculture operations including feeding, monitoring stock health and growth, water exchanges, harvesting, equipment operation, net and cage maintenance, data recording, product preparation, and general farm maintenance.
- Ensure compliance and organisational standards by adhering to biosecurity requirements, workplace policies, lawful directions, and maintaining high standards of environmental management, animal welfare, and operational performance.

SALARY

The position offers an annual salary of $75, 000 - $90,000 negotiated based on your experience.
