Our client is in the marine industry and is seeking a Lead Mechanic to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of a diverse fleet of pearling vessels and associated machinery. - 100K - 110K + Super
- 2 weeks on / 1 weeks off (FIFO)
- Temp to Perm Opportunity

About your next role

In this role, you will lead the maintenance and repair efforts for a fleet of specialised vessels. You will work mainly on land, though you may occasionally be required to go out on the water. Your responsibilities will include:

- Overseeing engineering tasks for pearling vessels and onsite machinery
- Performing mechanical repairs and routine servicing.
- Leading a small team of mechanics to ensure all refit and servicing programs are completed on schedule
- Conducting diagnostics and repairs on marine engines and hydraulic systems
- Maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment to support effective operations
- Assisting with remote site maintenance
- Ensuring all work complies with strict maritime safety standards

What you will need to bring





To be successful in this lead position, you should have a strong technical background and a proactive approach to problem solving. We look for:

- Relevant Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with marine or heavy machinery background
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior team members
- Excellent communication skills for working in close-knit team environments
- Resilience and adaptability when required to work in remote locations
- A high level of physical fitness suited for 9 to 10-hour shifts

Mandatory Requirements

- Australian Trade Qualification (Mechanical)
- Ability to pass a Pre-employment Medical, including Drug and Alcohol testing
- Current Manual Driver's License
- Construction White Card
