Your role at St John of God Outreach Services

Make a meaningful impact by supporting young people to build independence, resilience, and brighter futures. Horizon House Warrnambool is seeking a compassionate and committed Youth Worker to join our team in a permanent part‑time position (38 hours per fortnight). This role operates on a rotating roster that includes sleepover and weekend shifts. As a Youth Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to young people in a residential care setting, helping them develop essential life skills, achieve personal goals, and engage positively with their community. Working closely with a dedicated team, you will contribute to a protected, inclusive, and empowering environment where young people feel valued, respected, and supported to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

- Build strong, trusting relationships with young people, placing their interests and well‑being at the forefront of all interactions.
- Provide safe and stable long‑term accommodation to youth at risk of homelessness, creating an environment that promotes growth and development.
- Offer outreach, strengths‑based and practical support to meet the continuum of care arrangements for young people with complex needs.
- Assist young people in realizing their aspirations and potential, through participation in education, training, and employment services.
- Assist in case management and planning for young people.
- Support young people in developing independent living skills.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or a comparable qualification.
- State’s Driver’s Licence.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification.
- Working with Children Card.




- Understanding of the special needs of adolescents and trauma‑informed care.
- Recent experience working with at‑risk young people and extensive experience in an area related to youth work.
- Knowledge of Privacy Legislation and Occupational, Health & Safety Act Regulations.
- Patient care oriented; commitment to our Mission and Values.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $80,263 to $86,073 (pro rata for part time) plus 12% Superannuation. Permanent part‑time, working 38 hours per fortnight. Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as novated leasing, work‑related expenses, self‑education and additional superannuation.
