Role

Associate Water Resources Engineer – responsible for supporting the Water Resources team on NSW and wider ANZ projects, with a focus on flood risk management, waterway management, urban water management, and rural/irrigation water management.

Responsibilities

- Conduct technical assessments and design to support water resource management projects.
- Carry out peer reviews of engineering work.
- Ensure that all analysis and design tasks meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of both the client and SMEC.
- Mentor and review the work of junior engineers.
- Proactively collaborate with team members, clients, and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness, and coordination of project deliverables.
- Apply project management principles to oversee assigned tasks and deliver projects to required standards within established timelines.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.




- Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in water resources management and/or design.
- Experience with a range of hydrology and hydraulic modeling and design software.
- Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards.
- Ability to lead projects to achieve desirable outcomes.
- Experience contributing to business development, industry activities, and networking.
- Must have or be working towards obtaining mandatory compulsory mandating CPEng status.
