About the role

Join MacKillop Family Services as a Restoring Families Practitioner and make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children, young people, and families. In this rewarding outreach role, you will provide intensive, therapeutic, and family-centred support to strengthen family relationships, improve child safety and wellbeing, and help prevent children from entering or re-entering care. Working closely with families in their homes and communities, you will deliver evidence-informed interventions, collaborate with key stakeholders, and empower parents and carers to build safe, stable, and nurturing environments. This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity based in Melton within our Restoring Families Program. The position reports to the Restoring Families Practice Leader.

Key Selection Criteria

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field (or a relevant Diploma with substantial experience).
- Demonstrated experience working with children, young people, and families experiencing complex needs, trauma, attachment issues, and involvement with the child protection system.
- Proven ability to deliver therapeutic outreach casework using a strengths-based, whole-of-family approach.
- Experience applying the MARAM Framework, including risk assessment, safety planning, and information sharing within family violence contexts.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with families, community services, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in a culturally protected manner.

You must have a:

- Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
