As a Child and Family Support Worker at Big Rivers Child and Family Centre, you will deliver frontline services, supporting families, including children aged 0-5, in a welcoming, culturally safe environment. You’ll build strong relationships, ensure program compliance, and provide high-quality support to meet the needs of the whole family.

Key Responsibilities:

- Welcoming and Orientation: Greeting families and individuals as they arrive, assisting with sign-in procedures, and providing an introduction to available services.
- Needs Assessment and Referrals: Engaging with families to understand their needs, offering immediate support when possible, and referring them to other services or agencies that are better suited to address specific concerns.
- Promoting Respect and Responsibility: Encouraging families, children, and youth to adopt respectful behaviours in the service, such as cleaning up after themselves and respecting shared spaces.




- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Working with local organisations, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure families receive comprehensive support that addresses multiple aspects of child and family wellbeing.
- Facilitation of Activities: Planning and delivering programs or activities designed to enhance the development and outcomes of children aged 0-5, fostering engagement in early learning and family participation.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking the progress of families engaged with the service, documenting outcomes, and reporting on the effectiveness of interventions and programs delivered.
- Building Relationships: Establishing trust and positive relationships with families to foster their ongoing engagement and participation in the centre's services.
- Advocacy: Advocating for families and children, helping them navigate complex systems such as healthcare, education, and welfare, and ensuring their voices are heard.
- Undertaking Activities as Directed by Management: Carrying out tasks or activities assigned by management to ensure smooth operations and alignment with the centre’s goals and objectives. This includes responding to the immediate needs of the service and adapting to new priorities as they arise.

Remuneration package:

Employment Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $85,798.44 - $94,695.64 per annum (pro-rata)





- 6 Weeks Annual Leave
- 2 Weeks Sick Leave
- 2 Weeks Ancillary Leave

Location: 1/42 Katherine Terrace - Big Rivers Child & Family Centre, Katherine, NT

The successful applicant should possess the following:

- Certificate in Community Services (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Experience working with vulnerable people from a strength-based framework.
- Competent use of computer software packages such as word, excel, email and internet.
- Sound work ethics – reliability, honesty, confidentiality, responsibility
- Ability to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse people including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and people who have been born overseas.
- Ability to work in a team as well as unsupervised.
- Willingness to undertake further training as required

Mandatory before commencement:

- Valid NT Drivers License
- Valid NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
- National Police Check
