About the Role:

The Northern Adelaide Geriatric Service at Modbury Hospital is looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care for older adults across Adelaide's northern metropolitan region. This is a full-time, short-term contract opportunity through to 2 May 2027.

Your Role in Geriatric Care

Working within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), you will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for complex geriatric presentations across inpatient and community-based settings. Your core responsibilities will include:

- Conducting comprehensive functional, cognitive, and home assessments to support safe discharge planning and community reintegration
- Delivering evidence-informed interventions focused on maintaining and restoring independence in older adults
- Providing clinical supervision and professional support to junior OT staff and students
- Collaborating with the broader multidisciplinary team – including medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues – to coordinate goal-directed care plans

What You'll Bring

- Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Demonstrated experience in geriatric, aged care, or acute/subacute hospital settings
- Strong skills in functional and cognitive assessment, including standardised tools relevant to older adult populations
- Proven ability to lead clinical reasoning discussions and contribute to service-level quality improvement
- Familiarity with SA Health clinical frameworks and the NALHN model of care, or the ability to apply them quickly
- Effective communication skills across diverse patient groups and interdisciplinary teams

To be eligible for this position, you must have an Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
