Job Description

We are seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic and experienced Head of The Arts to join our team at St John Bosco College. This position is a full time ongoing position commencing on January 1, 2027. The Head of Learning Area is a curriculum and pastoral leader within the College, responsible for Teaching and Learning in their specific Learning Area.

The Head of Learning is required to actively contribute to the development of the Catholic ethos and culture of the College.

St John Bosco College is a Catholic co-educational College in its eleventh year of operation. The College is situated in Piara Waters, a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. We commenced in 2015 with students from Kindergarten to Year 2.

In 2026, we have 1400 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, as well as an OSHC facility. Our innovative building design has a focus on shared, flexible learning spaces which support best practice, 21st century teaching and learning methods.

The College motto "JOY IN LEARNING" is strongly exemplified in the person, life and teachings of our patron, St John Bosco. Our vision for this new Pre-Kindergarten - Year 12 College is creating a flourishing environment in which every student can experience the joy in learning and thrive in a Catholic learning community; where development of the whole person is of utmost importance.

The mission of staff is nurturing our students so that they can become successful learners, confident, creative, and active informed citizens, who are able to contribute positively to society.

Selection Criteria:

- A strong commitment to the Catholic ethos of Catholic Education and St John Bosco College and a willingness to promote and support Catholic values as a member of the Bosco community.

/n

- Have a commitment to Child Safety and Protection consistent with the CEWA Child Safe Framework

/n

- Be an enthusiastic, flexible and cooperative Arts educator who will work collaboratively with all staff.

/n

- Demonstrate the capacity and enthusiasm to build community by participating fully in College activities in collaboration with staff, parents, students and the St Francis Xavier Parish.

/n

- Be able to demonstrate highly competent classroom management, build positive relationships and engage in one-to-one pastoral conversations with students and families.

/n

- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and excellent communication and organisational skills.

/n

- Possess a sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, specifically in the Arts Learning Area

/n

- Possess the ability to be student centred and infuse thinking skills into the curriculum by providing learning experiences that incorporate a 21st century learning setting.

- Be able to develop programs that take advantage of relevant research evidence and are refined and enhanced through reflection, analysis of data and ongoing professional learning.

Qualifications Required:

- A willingness to complete Accreditation requirements as specified by Catholic Education WA.

/n

- Relevant four-year tertiary qualifications.

/n

- Applicants must have a current registration as a teacher with the Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA) to be eligible for appointment. Information is available from http://www.trb.wa.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx
