Registered Nurse – Palliative Care

Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Palliative Care team at St John of God Bunbury Hospital. The hospital is a modern 145‑bed private facility located on the South West Health Campus, providing comprehensive health care services to communities across Bunbury, Collie, Busselton, Margaret River and the wider South West region of Western Australia.

Supported by over 600 caregivers and a breadth of specialist services, including a dedicated 10‑bed palliative care ward, the hospital is recognised for delivering high‑quality, compassionate patient care. This permanent part‑time opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families while working in a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

- Assesses, plans, delivers and evaluates patient care, seeking support from senior staff as required.
- Adheres to and supports hospital policies, procedures and standards.
- Acts as the patient’s advocate and protects the rights of individuals.
- Provides patient education and acts as a resource where appropriate.
- Works within the scope of nursing practice decision‑making framework.
- Ensures documentation reflects hospital standards and meets legal requirements.
- Communicates appropriate information to senior staff regarding customer and departmental issues.
- Maintains and develops clinical skills to manage patient health problems.
- Undertakes ongoing professional development, applies and shares knowledge and skills.
- Supports and supervises staff and students as required, including orientation and preceptoring.

Qualifications

- Current Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.




- Strong commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care that prioritises safety, satisfaction and clinical excellence.
- Clinical experience in acute care – ideally within a palliative care environment.
- Ability to prioritise and multitask to meet clinical demands while maintaining a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
- Consistent application of occupational health and safety principles to support a protected and healthy workplace for themselves and others.
- Demonstrated ability to place patient care at the core of everything you do, supporting the organisation’s Mission and Values.

Salary and Benefits

- Salary: $82,945 to $106,630 per annum (pro rata), plus 12% superannuation.
- Permanent part‑time position, working 70 hours per fortnight.
