An IMS Core Test Engineer is responsible for validating and assuring the quality, performance, and reliability of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) platforms used in telecom networks for services such as VoLTE, VoWiFi, SMS over IMS, Rich Communication Services (RCS), and multimedia communications.
Location Sydney
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute IMS test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
- Validate IMS core network elements such as:
- CSCF (P-CSCF, I-CSCF, S-CSCF)
- HSS/UDM
- SBC
- Test VoLTE, VoWiFi, emergency calling, roaming, and supplementary services.
- Perform SIP signaling analysis and troubleshooting.
- Execute interoperability testing with RAN, EPC/5GC, and handset vendors.
- Conduct performance, load, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Analyze logs, traces, KPIs, and defects.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- SIP,
SDP, Diameter protocols
- VoLTE and VoWiFi call flows
- LTE, EPC, and 5G Core networks
- Experience with testing tools such as:
- Spirent
- Keysight/Ixia
- Wireshark
- SIPp
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
- Test automation using Python, Shell scripting, or Robot Framework.
- Defect management tools such as Jira and HP ALM.
Typical Experience for a Senior IMS Core Test Engineer
- 5–10+ years in telecom testing.
- Experience with operator networks in Australia is preferred.
- Robust exposure to VoLTE migrations, IMS upgrades, and 5G voice services.
