ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Communication Technician at Norton Gold Fields, you will be responsible for the delivery, support and maintenance of mining communication systems, operational technologies and infrastructure across our open pit operations. Working closely with the Mining Systems Supervisor, you will keep our people connected and our operation running safely and efficiently.

- Install, configure and maintain communication infrastructure including DMR/TETRA, LTE/5G, Wi-Fi mesh, microwave links and two-way radio systems across the fleet and site.
- Support the Fleet Management System (FMS) across surface mining equipment, conducting installation, testing and troubleshooting to maintain reliable GPS, network and data reporting.
- Maintain and support AHS communication hardware fitted to mobile mining equipment, including module changeouts, antenna replacements, cabling repairs and post-maintenance checks.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot CCTV systems including fixed IP cameras and PTZ units across pits, workshops, plants and remote locations.
- Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot portable communication trailers and skids, including solar arrays, battery banks, repeaters and telemetry systems.
- Respond to communication outages, conduct root cause analysis and maintain accurate records of all works completed, faults identified and follow-up actions required.

ABOUT YOU

- Trade qualification in communications, electronics or electro-technology, or equivalent practical experience (Essential)
- Current WA Class “C” Driver’s Licence (Essential)




- Restricted Electrical Licence and Registered Cabler Licence (Desirable)
- Exposure to AHS communication infrastructure or autonomous mining technologies (Desirable)
- Physically fit, self-motivated and able to work safely in a dusty, outdoor mining environment with minimal supervision
- Experience with the following:
- Mining communication systems and field-based technologies
- Two-way radio systems, FMS hardware, IP networking, Wi-Fi, LTE/5G and backhaul technologies
- Supporting communications and operational technology systems for mining or heavy industry
