ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering safe, effective and well-fragmented blast designs, while maintaining a strong focus on environmental performance and operational outcomes. As part of a complex mining operation, you will gain exposure to a broad range of blasting applications, including:

- Through-seam blasting
- Cast blasting
- Vibration-sensitive blasting
- Traditional waste and coal blasting methodologies

Your responsibilities will include:

- Developing and optimising drill and blast designs and processes
- Producing designs that support the safe and efficient mining of waste and coal
- Analysing blast performance and applying learnings throughout the mining cycle
- Implementing and improving quality control processes for drill and blast activities
- Ensuring designs and execution comply with environmental, safety and community requirements
- Working collaboratively with Technical Services, Operations, contractors and external stakeholders




- Supporting the introduction of new drill and blast technologies and improved practices
- Undertaking ad hoc technical projects that enhance site performance

The role offers the opportunity to build further depth in drill and blast engineering while working alongside experienced mining professionals in a technically varied operation.

ABOUT YOU

You will be an experienced mining or civil engineer with a strong interest in drill and blast and a practical, improvement-focused approach. You will be comfortable working across planning, design, execution and performance analysis, and will take pride in delivering high-quality technical outcomes. You will bring:

- A commitment to the highest standards of health, safety, environment and community performance
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated practical experience
- Experience in open cut mining, quarrying, civil construction or a related blasting environment
- Practical experience in drill and blast design, implementation or analysis
- Strong planning, organisational and influencing skills
- A methodical approach and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to solve problems using technical knowledge, experience and lateral thinking
- A genuine interest in developing specialist capability and contributing to best-practice drill and blast outcomes
