About the Role

The Youth Mental Health Initiative (YMHI) supports young people presenting to headspace with severe or complex mental health needs, improving access to care and ensuring smooth transitions between services. As a Senior Mental Health Professional / Integrated Youth Mental Health Senior Clinician, you will deliver advanced clinical care, provide intensive therapeutic interventions, and support integrated service delivery between headspace and the Local Health District. In this role, you will offer clinical expertise, leadership, and supervision within a multidisciplinary early‑intervention team. You will work from a trauma‑informed, culturally safe framework and play a key part in strengthening referral pathways, delivering high‑quality youth‑focused mental health support, and contributing to service development.

Are You the Right Fit?

- Have strong experience managing high‑risk and complex mental health presentations in young people,



with a trauma‑informed, culturally safe, recovery‑oriented approach.
- Provide confident clinical leadership, supervision, and mentorship to junior clinicians and students, while balancing leadership responsibilities with an active clinical caseload.
- Are skilled in assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, and risk management.
- Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and in partnership with headspace, families, GPs, and community services.
- Understand psychiatric medications, relevant legislation (including the NSW Mental Health Act 2007), and ethical practice standards.

Selection Criteria

- Relevant qualification/registration in one of the disciplines, as noted in the essential criteria (please refer to the position description)
- Describe your experience working with young people with complex or high‑risk mental health needs. Include examples of assessment, risk management, and therapeutic intervention.
- How have you provided clinical leadership, supervision, or mentorship within a multidisciplinary mental health setting?
- Explain how you apply trauma‑informed, culturally safe, and recovery‑oriented principles when working with young people and their families.




- Applicants must possess an Australian C‑Class driver’s license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner’s licenses are not permitted.
