Your New Role
Kickstart your career in Westpac’s Data, Digital & AI Division and help shape the future of banking for millions of Australians.
As a graduate, you'll work on innovative data, digital and AI solutions that enhance customer experiences, empower our bankers and drive meaningful business outcomes. From developing data-driven insights to building the next generation of intelligent digital experiences, you’ll contribute to work that makes banking simpler, smarter and more personalised.
From machine learning to Generative AI and emerging technologies, we solve complex challenges and unlock new opportunities across the bank. Whether you’re designing digital journeys, developing AI-powered tools or uncovering insights from data, you’ll help deliver solutions with real impact.
You’ll gain hands‑on experience, tackling real business challenges, and contributing to our ambition of becoming the most intelligent and best digital bank in the galaxy. Along the way, you’ll build in‑demand skills, expand your professional network and accelerate your career in one of the most exciting and fast‑evolving fields.
What can you expect as a Data, Digital and AI Graduate?
This is a 12-program where you’ll be embedded within business squads, gaining hands‑on experience from day one while shaping your own career direction.
Halfway through, you’ll have the opportunity move into a new squad within the Data,
Digital and AI Division - broadening your experience and deepening your expertise.
The Data, Digital and AI Graduate (DDAI) program offers two specialist pathways – aligned to your unique skills, interests and future career goals:
AI Science
As a graduate AI Scientist, you’ll turn data into intelligence from day one – building, training and deploying machine learning, Gen‑AI and agentic models that go live for real customers and colleagues. Bring your Python, problem‑solving and curiosity; we’ll put it to work on real AI challenges at scale.
AI Digital
As an AI Digital graduate, you’ll help reimagine and elevate the digital banking experience for our customers. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across digital product delivery, product ownership, service and experience design, and data analytics.
Throughout the program, you’ll be supported by senior leaders and technical mentors, working on meaningful projects that accelerate your development and growth. You’ll also be part of a strong DDAI graduate community, a built‑in network for learning, collaboration and growth from day one.
Future Career Opportunities
Build a future‑proof career in one of the fastest‑growing fields in technology and banking. You’ll develop in‑demand skills that set you up for long‑term success across Westpac’s Data,
Digital and AI Division.
Depending on your stream, interests and specialisation, future career pathways may include:
- AI Scientist

Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for curious, future‑focused thinkers who are genuinely excited about the possibilities of data, digital and AI.
You thrive in fast‑moving, collaborative environments. You enjoy learning quickly, experimenting with recent ideas, and building real solutions that customers and bankers will use.
We value diverse perspectives, backgrounds and experiences. What sets you apart is your ability to think critically, problem‑solve creatively, and use data, digital and AI solutions to drive real impact.
For graduates in the AI Science stream, these technical skills are also highly valued:
- A strong grounding in statistics, probability and mathematics
- Practical programming skills, such as Python and SQL
- A solid understanding of core machine learning concepts
- An interest in generative AI and large language models, with an understanding of responsible AI
Eligibility
- You must be in your final year of study of a university degree, or
- You have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, but it must be no more than three years ago.
- You also need to be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident when you apply.
You will need to be available to start with us as a permanent employee in February 2027.
