The main laboratory of the Anatomical Pathology Unit is located at The Alfred campus with a significant anatomical pathology laboratory located at the current Footscray Hospital. The Unit comprises 6 diagnostic sections: Histopathology, Cytopathology, Special Histopathology (In situ Hybridisation, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry & Autoantibody Serology), Neuromuscular laboratory, Mortuary and solid tumour molecular pathology. A broad range of diagnostic histology and non-gynaecological cytology specimens are processed by the Unit and incorporate the work of Alfred and Western Health.

Qualifications and Skills Required
- Appointees must be legally qualified medical practitioners,
registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact on their clinical practice.
- Fellow of the relevant college.
- Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Anatomical Pathology.
- Meeting Bayside Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Anatomical Pathology.
- Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels.
- Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others / other teams.
- Expertise in neuropathology and/or solid tumour molecular pathology is desirable.
