As a Core Java Developer reporting to Sr. Director – Software Engineering, you'll play a critical role in building and enhancing high-performance transaction processing systems that power real-time financial markets infrastructure at Nasdaq.

Key Responsibilities

- Write code implement new features that improve system performance and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Analyze technical requirements to assess feasibility and provide accurate delivery estimates.
- Actively participates in the design process, bringing a solution-focused perspective.
- Create transparent documentation for new features, test scenarios, and processes to support quality assurance and production teams.
- Investigate and resolve production issues promptly, ensuring system stability and client continuity.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience, with strong proficiency in Java.
- Experience in Core Java, Linux, SQL.
- Experience building or maintaining real-time, high-throughput transaction processing systems.
- Solid understanding of network communication protocols and distributed system fundamentals.




- Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of financial markets or experience working on trading or financial platforms.
- Familiarity with low-latency system design and performance optimization.
- Flexibility to occasionally engage with global teams outside of standard working hours, as needed.

This position will be located in Sydney, Australia and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 2 days a week in-office (may increase to 3 days in the future).

This is a permanent, full-time role so candidates should have full working rights in Australia. To be eligible to apply, you must have Australian citizenship or permanent residency status .
