Cancer Council Queensland is the state’s largest non‑government cancer organisation. For more than 60 years we have worked alongside communities across the state through research, prevention, advocacy and support services, while helping people navigate cancer with hope, dignity and connection.
As a director, you will help steward one of Queensland's most trusted charities and contribute to improving outcomes for people, families and communities across the state.
We are seeking directors who bring a combination of:
- Lived experience in one of the following:
- Belonging to a priority group as defined by the National Cancer Plan
- Cancer survivorship
- Bereavement as a result of cancer
- Capability in at least one of the following areas:
- Substantial leadership experience and influence in the not‑for‑profit sector/industry
- Research, advocacy and community services expertise
- Digital, data and future‑focused vision
- Service design and operational capability
- Deep community and service system connection
We recognize that improving cancer outcomes for all Queenslanders requires leadership that reflects the community we serve. We particularly hope for interest from First Nations people and are committed to ensuring cultural perspectives,
knowledge and leadership contribute to the governance and leadership of our organisation.
We also encourage expressions of interest from people who are culturally and linguistically diverse, people living in regional and remote Queensland, people with disability, and people with lived experience of cancer, not for diversity as an end in itself, but to address inequity as identified in the evidence of rates of survival and other outcome measures (according to the National Cancer Plan).
We believe better decisions are made that will produce better outcomes when different experiences, cultures, perspectives and ways of knowing are represented around the Board table.
