What You’ll Do
We are growing the capability within our Risk and Assurance team. As the Risk Manager , you will be responsible for providing risk management expertise, assurance, and oversight across Queensland Hydro’s projects, packages and functions. In this role you will support the effective implementation of the Queensland Hydro Risk Management framework, strengthen risk maturity, and promote active, integrated and predictive risk management across Queensland Hydro. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Assurance , you will lead risk reporting, stakeholder engagement, risk system administration, risk analysis and continuous improvement activities to support informed executive, committee and Board decision‑making.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Facilitate the identification, assessment, prioritisation, quantification and management of threats, opportunities and risk‑related issues.
- Maintain visibility of risk and chance trigger points to support cost and schedule profiling, timely drawdown of risk budget and retirement of threats or opportunities.
- Lead the preparation of risk reporting, dashboards, committee packs and governance materials to support effective communication and decision‑making.
- Manage Queensland Hydro’s enterprise risk management system, including configuration, data quality, user support and training.
- Monitor organisational risk exposure, emerging themes and risk interactions with trend, change and project control processes.
Who You Are
To be successful in this position,
you will have qualifications in either risk management, project management, engineering, business or a related discipline. Relevant professional certification, such as PMI‑RMP, ISO 31000 or equivalent, will be highly regarded, coupled with proven experience in risk management within major projects, infrastructure, or complex business environments.
- Strong technical capability in qualitative risk management and an understanding of schedule and cost risk analysis.
- Proven ability to advise executives, committees and Boards on material risk exposures, governance obligations and risk‑informed decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead risk workshops, control effectiveness reviews and risk maturity uplift activities across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience using enterprise or project‑focused risk management systems, analytical tools and Microsoft products to translate risk data into actionable insights.
- Understanding of project controls, including schedule, cost, change, contingency and commercial risk management.
