Play a leading role in shaping the future of Australia's energy markets. As a Principal Energy Reform Analyst in AEMO's Markets Reform & Strategy team, you'll lead complex market reform initiatives across the National Electricity Market (NEM), providing strategic advice that influences industry outcomes and supports Australia's energy transition.

Working with industry, government, consumer groups and internal stakeholders, you'll develop reform solutions, assess market and consumer impacts, and represent AEMO in key external forums.



You'll lead major projects, influence stakeholders, manage complex risks and dependencies, and mentor colleagues to build capability across market reform and strategic analysis.

This is an opportunity to drive meaningful change and have a direct impact on the future design of Australia's energy system.

What You Will Be Doing

- Lead complex market reform initiatives, developing strategic options, assessing market and operational impacts, and delivering solutions that support AEMO's reform objectives.
- Provide strategic analysis and evidence-based recommendations on complex regulatory, policy and market design issues, influencing executive decisions and reform outcomes.
- Build and influence key stakeholder relationships, leading engagement with industry, government and market bodies, and representing AEMO in consultations and forums.
- Lead data-driven analysis and insights, translating complex information into strategic recommendations, reports and submissions that shape market reform outcomes.
- Manage complex reform projects, overseeing delivery, governance, risks and stakeholder expectations to achieve successful outcomes.
- Provide reform compliance leadership, assessing regulatory obligations and ensuring alignment with legislative and governance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance systems, processes and governance to support productive reform delivery.
- Mentor and develop colleagues, building capability in market reform,



strategic analysis and structured problem-solving.

What You Will Bring To The Role

- Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in economics, engineering, science, law, commerce, finance, computing or a related discipline.
- Extensive proven experience in a commercial, regulatory, policy or energy market environment, including experience leading complex reform, strategy, market design or operational workstreams or activities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of wholesale energy markets, reform processes, regulatory frameworks and emerging sector trends, with the ability to integrate insights into strategic reform work.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic thinking and critical analysis of complex and ambiguous issues, synthesise information from multiple sources, challenge assumptions and develop evidence-based recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead communication of complex reform issues, including high-quality written reports, submissions, presentations and briefing material tailored to technical, non-technical, senior and external audiences.
- Advanced qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, including the ability to design analytical approaches, interpret complex datasets and translate findings into strategic recommendations.
