Your new company My client requires an experienced Mechanical Fitter. You will be responsible for on-site maintenance, repairs and installation of lubricant storage transfer and dispensing equipment, as commonly used on fixed and mobile assets within a mining environment.
The role will be suited to someone who has experience working on fixed and mobile equipment. A minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter is required for this position and experience within the mining industry is preferred for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain lubrication and grease systems to include rebuild and/or repair of lubrication pumps
- Monitor operational plant performance to improve the reliability and life expectancy of plant equipment by utilising lubrication best practices.
- Perform planned and breakdown maintenance tasks on all fixed and mobile mining machinery
- Fault-finding and repairing mechanical plant and equipment
- Ensure all work is performed to trade standards and meets high standards
- Complete necessary documentation, risk assessments, and work orders
- Carry out first response breakdown maintenance tasks
- Intrastate Travel as required
- Understand and operate a range of test equipment for routine and non-routine lubrication functions
- Utilising the test equipment, complete planned lubrication activities
- Collect lubrication samples, dispatch them for analysis and,
from the results, participate in any subsequent actions
- Participate in lubrication change outs
- Maintenance of dispensing equipment and automatic systems
- Participate in the changing of breathers and filters
- Participate in maintaining good records of recommendations and equipment procurement
Requirements
- Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter Trade Certificate or similar
- Australian citizenship is essential for this position, with non-citizens not considered
- Ambitious attitude, career aspirations, ability to work autonomously with high levels of self‑drive and motivation
- Ability to liaise with customers on-site in a professional and personable manner and with high levels of customer service and care.
- Confined spaces, forklift and working at heights
- Driver Licence (Manual Class)
- Honest and flexible attitude to tasks and required hours
- Hands‑on approach to work, ability to 'get hands dirty'
- Hydraulics service/ repair (highly desired)
- Have a solid safety and risk management focus
