About the Role

Pakenham Crane Trucks is seeking an Accountant to oversee the company’s financial reporting, accounting controls and financial management activities. The successful candidate will analyse business performance, monitor operational costs, prepare financial reports, support statutory compliance and provide financial information and advice to assist management with informed decision-making across the company’s transport, crane hire, lifting and installation operations.

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus Superannuation

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare periodic financial statements, management accounts, cash-flow reports and financial performance reports

- Review accounting records relating to crane hire, transport, lifting and installation operations to ensure accuracy and appropriate classification

- Analyse operating income, expenditure and profitability across business activities and report financial outcomes to management

- Monitor and analyse vehicle, crane, fuel, maintenance, repair, insurance and equipment-related operating costs

- Prepare budgets, financial forecasts and variance analyses to support business planning and management decision-making





- Review and oversee the integrity of general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, customer accounts and supplier balances

- Analyse accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash-flow performance and report material risks or variances to management

- Review and maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation for trucks, cranes, vehicles and operational equipment

- Review payroll reconciliations and coordinate BAS, GST, superannuation and other statutory reporting requirements

- Review accounting procedures and recommend improvements to internal financial controls and reporting systems

- Provide financial analysis and advice to management regarding operating costs, profitability, cash flow and business performance

- Liaise with external accountants, taxation advisers, financial institutions and other stakeholders regarding accounting, taxation and compliance matters

Candidate Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a closely related discipline

- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting or management accounting

- Robust knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations and statutory compliance

- Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, management reports and financial analyses

- Ability to analyse operational costs, profitability, cash flow and financial performance

- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills

- High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate financial records

- Experience in transport, logistics, crane hire, equipment hire or a related industry will be highly regarded
