Opportunity for an experienced Legal Counsel to join CMC Markets on a 12 month maximum term contract. As a valued member of our Legal team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting a rapid-paced, innovative financial services business. You will provide commercially focused legal advice that supports strategic decision-making across our Australian and New Zealand operations. Based in our Barangaroo office, you'll work on a diverse range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, financial services regulation, corporate governance, and key business initiatives.

This is a broad generalist role that offers excellent opportunities to develop your legal and commercial expertise. You'll gain exposure across both our CFD and stockbroking businesses, working on complex and varied matters that will strengthen your understanding of financial services regulation while broadening your commercial perspective. What You Will Be Working On

As Legal Counsel, you'll:

- Report to, assist and maintain a close working relationship with Senior Legal Counsel APAC and the APAC Legal Team, in order to support the wider APAC Senior Management team to deliver the strategic objectives of the region whether through every day transactional or strategic project work.
- Review and negotiation of a range of contracts for various vendors engaged by CMC Markets across the region, requiring strong skills in contract review and legal analysis.




- General advice in response to regulatory matters (including financial services and privacy law) and ad hoc matters.
- Assist with the management and review of CMC Markets legal disclosure documents and other terms for both the CFD and stockbroking businesses in Australia, New Zealand and any new jurisdiction from time to time.
- Work closely with various parts of the APAC business including Partners, Compliance, Disputes, Marketing and HR.
- Liaise with the APAC Legal Team and globally, where relevant, to ensure that knowledge and relevant information is shared.

What Type Of Person Will Be Successful

3–5 PQE with an unrestricted practising certificate. You’ll have a strong foundation in corporate and commercial law, with the ability to clearly communicate complex legal issues to a non-legal audience. Your excellent organisational, analytical, and negotiation skills enable you to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams. You’ll be a trusted partner to the business, providing practical legal support across both transactional matters and strategic projects. An interest in financial technology, and a willingness to dive into the technical aspects of CFD and stockbroking will be highly valued in this role. You must be eligible to work in Australia permanently.
