The Workplace Relations Group delivers policies and programs that support the national workplace relations system, as well as federal health and safety and workers' compensation systems.

About the role The duties and responsibilities of the Chief Counsel / First Assistant Secretary of the Workplace Relations Division include (i) leading the division to provide independent, expert legal advice to the Minister and the department on workplace relations, statutory appointments, work health and safety, and workers' compensation; collaboration with departmental colleagues and across the APS to support the development of legislation using a project management approach, and the division to manage workplace relations litigation involving the Minister.

About you You have a tertiary qualification, are able to be admitted as a practitioner, however described, of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian state or territory, and can demonstrate capability in line with the APS SES Band 2 Work Level Standards.
