Executive Director, Child Safe Organisations Queensland Family & Child Commission – Brisbane QLD

An exceptional opportunity exists for an Executive Director, Child Safe Organisations to lead the regulation of Queensland's Child Safe Organisation system. Reporting to the Principal Commissioner, you will provide strategic and operational leadership of the regulation of the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme established under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024. Leading a high-performing division, you will oversee regulatory operations, investigations, compliance, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement while ensuring regulatory decisions are fair, evidence-based and aligned with legislative requirements.

This role also presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the establishment of the proposed Queensland Protection Commission, helping shape the future of child safeguarding in Queensland.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the regulation of Queensland's Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme to strengthen safeguarding outcomes across the state

Provide strategic leadership of a large-scale, risk-based regulatory function, ensuring consistent and evidence-based regulatory decision-making

Drive regulatory compliance, investigations, assessments and statutory decision-making in accordance with legislative requirements

Build strong partnerships across government, regulators, community organisations and sector leaders to improve child safety outcomes





Lead organisational transformation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance regulatory effectiveness and service delivery

Provide expert strategic advice to the Principal Commissioner, Executive Leadership Board and Government on emerging regulatory issues and system performance

Foster a high-performing, inclusive and values-driven culture focused on innovation, collaboration and continuous learning

Ensure effective governance, financial stewardship, workforce leadership and compliance with work health and safety obligations.

The ideal candidate will bring:

Significant executive leadership experience leading complex regulatory, compliance or organisational functions.

Demonstrated ability to influence system-wide reform and deliver strategic organisational outcomes.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills across government, regulators and diverse sectors.

Extensive experience providing high-level strategic advice to senior executives, Ministers or regulatory bodies.

Robust commercial, governance and organisational leadership capability, supported by sound judgement and decision-making.

A proven ability to lead high-performing teams while fostering an inclusive, culturally safe and collaborative workplace.
