Community Liaison Officer

- Salary $98,182.78 to $113,892.48 p/a (pro-rata) + super *
- Temporary part time position (14 hours) – 1 year contract

About the role

Working collaboratively with Council, community leaders and key stakeholders, you will coordinate community engagement activities, support governance processes, map community services and referral pathways, and contribute to the delivery of intercultural and interfaith initiatives that promote inclusion and social cohesion.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Build trusted relationships with the Jewish community and other cultural and faith communities to strengthen social cohesion across Ku-ring-gai
- Coordinate and support the Project Reference Group, including meeting administration, reporting and implementation of key actions
- Engage with community organisations, multicultural agencies and stakeholders to identify community needs and strengthen partnerships
- Map community services and referral pathways to improve access to culturally appropriate support for residents
- Design and deliver intercultural and interfaith initiatives that foster inclusion, understanding and meaningful community connections
- Identify emerging community issues and support residents to access Council and external services, escalating matters where appropriate

Qualifications, Skills & Experience





- Demonstrated experience in community engagement, community development or a similar liaison or outreach role
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse cultural and faith communities
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders and developing strong community partnerships and referral pathways
- Strong organisational skills, including experience supporting committees, meetings or governance processes
- Cultural awareness, sensitivity and sound judgement when working with community members on sensitive or complex issues
- Lived experience within the Jewish community, or significant experience working with the Jewish community and an understanding of its culture, values and community organisations, will be highly regarded
